Lately I’ve been thinking a lot about privacy when it comes to AI image tools. I’m not talking about the obvious misuse cases, but more about what actually happens to the images we upload. Are they stored? For how long? Who can access them later? I work in a small design team, and we sometimes test AI platforms out of curiosity, but there’s always this uneasy feeling that once an image leaves your device, you lose control. I’d really like to hear how others here evaluate data security on these platforms and what red flags you personally look for before trying them.

That concern is very real, and honestly it’s something many people ignore until it bites them. I’ve worked with cloud-based image processing tools for a few years (mostly fashion and mockups), and I’ve learned to read privacy pages almost like contracts. Some platforms clearly say images are deleted after processing, others keep them “temporarily” without defining what that means. When I first checked tools like clothoff
, what I paid attention to wasn’t the functionality, but whether they mention encryption, image retention time, and manual deletion. From experience, a big red flag is when a site is vague or overly legalistic. Practical tip: avoid uploading real personal photos, strip metadata beforehand, and never reuse sensitive images. Even well-intentioned platforms can have leaks or internal access issues, so user-side caution still matters a lot.

I agree with both of you. From my side, I don’t think most users expect military-grade security, but transparency would already go a long way. If platforms explained things in plain language, trust would be easier. Until then, I treat these tools as “public spaces” and behave accordingly, even if that feels a bit limiting sometimes.
