Hi! I am wanting to make a birdbath for hummingbirds. Can you give me any ideas? Probably make a mold of silicone (2pieces) then pour resin and put the upper mold on until the resin cures. Any suggestions about how to make the 2 molds?

Hi Ellen,

A couple of questions:

Do you have templates for your mold?
Do I understand you correctly that you are going to make two parts – the dish and a pedestal?

Well, I am interested in how to make a mold for the dish. Don’t I need two parts for a dish mold? Since resin is self-leveling, i don’t know how to mold the sides of the dish.

A two part mold is ideal, but they are harder to make. If your dish has a flat bottom, you can make a one part mold. Make a mold box large enough for the dish. Put the flat bottom of the dish onto the bottom of the mold box. Pour your molding material. Provided your dish has a large base and/or a small lip, you should be able to demold it to use for your next project.
