Has anyone here used travel wholesalers or bed banks like Hotelbeds or others when booking accommodations? I’m seeing cheaper rates than on big-name sites, but I’m nervous about potential downsides. Is it worth the risk for the savings, or better to stick with what you know?

I’ve booked through a wholesaler once while traveling in Spain. The rate was great, but when I got to the hotel, they didn’t have my reservation on file. Took a while to sort out, and I ended up paying again and requesting a refund later. Use with caution!

Some travelers had smooth stays, while others ran into booking errors or unexpected fees. It seems like a mixed bag, depending on the hotel’s relationship with the wholesaler. I booked once for a trip to Lisbon, and luckily it worked out, but I still called the hotel a week in advance to confirm.
