I am new to resin and just casted my first mold. I used clear polyester resin to cast a flower. Once it solidified, I noticed there were some scratches and little dents in the mold. Is there any way to buff those out? Also, the mold seems dull. What would you recommend to polish it up with?

Hi Courtney,

Since you used polyester resin, you can use a rotary tool and buffing compound to buff out imperfections. I like to use Fabulustre on a cotton buff. (Epoxies don’t do well with this technique. They may melt from the friction.)

Unfortunately, there is no way to repair or change your mold. You will have to expect to buff/polish castings every time you use it.
