      This question comes from Helen:

Can I use a rubber balloon to cast with resin?
Will it stick to the rubber?
I’m trying to get a big bowl shape made with resin for candles.
Would appreciate any thoughts on how to achieve this.

      Hi Helen,

I have not tried this. What an interesting idea!

I wouldn’t expect the resin to stick to the balloon, but my main concern here is that the balloon would break under the weight of the resin. I think it’s going to be hard to find something to bend enough to make a bowl shape without it breaking.

Hi Helen, to support the weight of the resin, you could try filling the ballon with sand or water first?

      Hi, Helen,
Could you use a bowl to sit the balloon in to support the weight and shape it at the same time? I’m new to resin and I’m a little confused as to whether you are using the inside of the balloon or just using it as a liner. But it very interesting to me. I’d like to know if you find a way.

How do you find and get rid of bubbles?

How do you find and get rid of bubbles? Or are bubbles not a problem?
