Frustrated with the exorbitant cost of garden ornaments, I’ve had the brilliant idea of making them myself with resin, which, of course is not the least bit expensive (lol). But anyway, I’d like to cast a bird, at least 3″ x 3″. I’ve watched tutorials on youtube where people cast large pieces, but they always put them in some kind of expensive looking pot to cure, or off-gas, or something, and I’m pretty sure I don’t have one of those.

Is it possible to simply make a mold that size, or even a bit larger, without fancy equipment?

Yes, you can cast this with out the fancy equipment provided it’s a bird that can cast without a lot of undercuts and is a fairly simply design.
