I am doing a cast of a cube, 6inches on all sides. I would like to color it translucent purple and I will need to do several pours per instruction to prevent extreme exothermic reactions and other undesirables. My question- if i do one drop of alcohol ink per inch, do you think the layers will be distinguishable? A drop isn’t a scientific measurement

Followup- I don’t want the layers to be distinguishable from each other

      Hi Kevin,

Alchol ink likes to float across a resin surface when it’ dropped like this. Yes, I would expect you to see a delineation between layers. Mixing the ink into the resin before pouring will help.

You will also want to be a new layer when the previous layer is in the gel phase. This article explains more: https://resinobsession.com/resin-frequently-asked-questions/what-is-the-gel-time-of-resin/
