So I found an epic walking stick/staff out on a hike. The head of the staff is curled around itself almost as though it was a knot on the tree. Anyway, what I want to do is literally encase the top in resin, like a mix of red on one side with a soft blend to blue on the other.

I’m 100% new so would do a few small practice sessions but here is what I was thinking. Find a container just big enough to fit the staff head, suspend the staff, allow to cure, then remove the container/mold and cut/carve/sand the resin into the shape I’m looking for (think something like rough mountains).

What type of resin would you recommend?
Color mixing, I’ve seen powders and liquids, is one better than the other?
Obviously it’s not going to be a table top so it doesn’t need to be super hard right?

      Thank all

      Hi Garret,

That sounds like a lot of work!

What about taking the approach like putting resin on a tumbler? This article will give you some ideas: https://www.resinobsession.com/resin-tutorials/resin-tumbler-diy/
