I made a resin ashtray, however upon putting a cigarette in the ashtray, I noticed that it scorched the resin and left a yellow/brown mark. Is there something I can coat the resin in or a finishing that would prevent it from scorching after it has cured? Or any way to prevent this from happening.

Hi Romy, I’m afraid resin isn’t suitable for ashtrays for this reason. What you describe is what I would expect to happen.
