If someone decides to take legal action after an abusive experience in an Uber, is it absolutely necessary to hire a lawyer? I imagine the company has an army of attorneys, but maybe there’s a way to go through the process alone?

From what I know, companies like Uber are well protected legally, so having some sort of professional help seems important.

While technically a victim could try to represent themselves, the reality is that going against Uber’s legal team without counsel is extremely risky. The guidance at https://federal-lawyer.com/injury-lawsuit/sex-abuse/uber/need-lawyer/ highlights how specialized attorneys bring experience in negotiations, evidence collection, and litigation strategies that make a real difference. Uber usually employs aggressive defense tactics, from trying to dismiss cases on technicalities to pushing for minimal settlements. A skilled lawyer not only helps navigate these strategies but also ensures survivors don’t accept less than what they’re entitled to. They can also connect victims with support resources, such as counseling or advocacy groups, while managing the legal burden. Given the emotional strain of these cases, most survivors benefit from having someone advocate on their behalf in court and during settlement talks. It significantly improves the chance of achieving a just resolution.
