I’m thinking of getting into mining on a small scale — just one or two rigs to run at home. I don’t want anything too loud or complex, just a solid piece of gear to start learning the ropes. What kind of machine would work best for someone just starting out?

From my own experience, you should focus on practical and reliable bitcoin mining machines https://scalar.usc.edu/works/best-bitcoin-miners-2025-top-10-asic-machines-for-maximum-profitability-/index?t=1748507914228 that don’t overwhelm you with setup complexity. Some of the newer models for beginners are plug-and-play, don’t need external cooling systems, and come with clean web interfaces for tracking performance. I picked up one recently that runs at about 110 TH/s, uses around 3kW, and didn’t need any extra networking setup — just Ethernet and basic router configuration. Noise is manageable too, around 65 dB with stock fans. The key is to get something that runs stable without a ton of tuning. Avoid anything with water-cooling for your first rig unless you’re ready to deal with pump maintenance and condensation issues. Another thing to look for is support — go with a machine that has active firmware updates and an online community you can ask questions in. Don’t get caught up in chasing top-end gear right away; something dependable that teaches you the basics is worth way more than a flashy unit you don’t fully understand yet.
