My family has a “bench” in the yard made from an old timber beam, maybe 12” x 12” x 8’. After years outside, the wood is starting to deteriorate. It was installed by out great grandparents, so it has significant sentimental value. Is this something that could be preserved? I’ve seen poured resin tabletops and bar tops. Wondering if the whole beam could be sealed completely. Or if there’s rot and other damage is this even possible?

      Hi JJ,

I’m not sure resin is the best choice here without restoration of your wood first. It needs to be fully dried and sealed before using resin.
