I want to gold leaf a specific shape over a layer of resin and then put a clear coat over the gold leaf. Since the first layer will be dry, what should i use to gold leaf the shape onto the layer? And do i need to protect the gold leaf with anything before I add the second layer of resin?

If I were to do this, I would create a stencil in the shape, then use a clear drying white glue to apply the gold leaf to the area.

You don’t need to do anything to the gold leaf before applying the resin. They work well together.
