I was looking for a way to check if a specific website was having server issues or if it was just me, and I stumbled across this tool called https://whosonline.net/ It basically lets you see real-time user activity on a bunch of big news and social media sites.

I’ve been low-key using it to gauge when a site is most active before I post a comment or to see if a news site is crashing because of traffic. It’s a simple idea, but I haven’t seen many tools like it.

Curious if anyone here has used it for news or discussion strategies. Do you find this kind of live user data useful, or is it just a neat gimmick?

I’ve noticed sites like that as well, and in most cases they’re showing estimated activity instead of real-time data. It’s interesting from a curiosity standpoint, but I’m always a bit careful about platforms that rely heavily on tracking users. I usually prefer simple web tools that just focus on functionality without collecting extra data. That approach feels more transparent and user-friendly overall.

Yes, I’ve noticed a few sites like that. They’re useful for understanding activity levels, but they also make you think more about privacy and how visible you are online. For that reason, I prefer tools that let me access or save content without staying active on a platform. For example, when I want to keep Pinterest ideas for later, I usually download them and view offline using a simple web tool like https://pinterestdownloader.com.br/
