GuestI’ve been reading a lot about CBT lately and trying to figure out whether it’s something I should explore myself. I know it’s evidence-based and often recommended, but I can’t help but wonder—does it actually work for everyone? I have a close friend who said it felt too structured and didn’t suit her personality at all. I’m curious to hear other people’s experiences, especially if anyone felt it wasn’t the right fit for them and found something better?

GuestThat’s such a valid question. I’ve been down the CBT road myself, and while it helped me recognize certain unhelpful thought patterns, it didn’t fully address the emotional side of things for me. I’m someone who tends to overthink everything, and CBT gave me tools, but it didn’t really go deep enough. Later, I switched to Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), which felt less rigid and more aligned with how I process emotions. For others though, CBT can be life-changing—it really depends on your personality, how you think, and even your therapist’s style. I actually found my first CBT therapist through Getbetter official website, which lets you filter by therapy style, and that made a big difference.
