Hello i have several ideas and wanted some input before going forward.

I have seen some information regarding epoxy resin how it will get soft with contact with skin/body heat.Is it unsafe for skin? I am probably going to use leather as a backing but if not I want to know if its ok.This question might be brand dependent.
I am using easy cast which i know might not be the best.
Also i wanted to make a bead which would slide over the hair(dreadlocks) but I dont know if it would be safe to be in direct contact with the hair at all times.
Also is resin jewelry waterproof? What can be used to further protect a cured resin item.
      Thanks, Chris

      Chris,

I apologize.  Im sorry I missed answering this a couple of weeks ago!

Properly cured resin is safe to wear.  I dont know that body heat will do much to impact the resin, but leaving it in bright, hot sunshine (or something equivalent) will.

Making a resin bead should also be safe for hair.

I dont know as though I would call resin castings waterproof.   While getting them wet (like washing your hands) doesnt concern me, I dont know that I would recommend them for beach wear (sun and salt water) without testing them first.

If I was going to try this, I would definitely use epoxy or polyurethane for this and NOT polyester resin, since polyester will yellow with UV sun exposure.
