Hello,
I purchased a wonderful marble-sized resin photo pendant on Etsy. The artist is no longer selling them. I want to learn how. The pendant is in two halves: one is clear resin, with my photo attached, and the other is opaque (but you could use 2 photos and have both sides be clear. Where the two halves meet together the artist placed a thin metal band that runs the circumference of the resin halves, so that the two halves are joined and form one marble sized resin ball. The metal band is attached to the resin ball by a long pin that runs through the inside of the two halves and comes out the top of the metal band where it is bent into a hanger to attach to a split ring.Do you have any ideas how to make this? I have searched for the findings (metal band) and instructions on how to make this but am coming up empty. I would really like to learn to make one to give to my mom for mother"s day.Yours,JS -

Hi JS,
Based upon what you have described, heres how I would try it:
1. I would cast clear resin with the photo and colored resin as two separate halves using mold 566 — https://resinobsession.com/ItemPage/5362/Cabochon-Mold-566—16-Cavity.html — or mold 567 — https://resinobsession.com/ItemPage/5363/Cabachon-Mold-567—25-Cavity.html
2. Once cured, I would sand my castings on the back to make sure they were flat.
3. Glue the two halves together using E-6000 — https://resinobsession.com/ItemPage/5884/E-6000-Epoxy-Jewelry-Adhesive-Restricted-shipping.html — or a bit more resin.
4. To cover up the two seams, you could use something like foil tape. I dont exactly know what its called, but Ive seen stained glass people use it. Once you get the foil tape around the bead, use more E-6000 to glue it in place if necessary.
5. Use a screw eye — https://resinobsession.com/ItemPage/5745/Screw-Eye-Attachments-Silver-QTY-20.html — in the top to hang it.
6. If you wanted to try hanging your pendant with wire, you will need to groove the seam all the way around to serve as a place for the wire to seat into. Twist the wire at the top to make a loop for the bail.
If you end up doing this, please share pictures!
