Hello all. I’ve just started working with Polyester Resin and am working ongetting the mix right. The first time I had a pretty nice surface but it stayed tacky for ever. I added a few more drops of catalyst and it cured much better but I had more of this look. https://imgur.com/ZRkirol It is only on the surface and can be scraped off. The inside is crystal clear. Is this due to too much catalyst or something else? I use a pressure pot at 50psi for a solid 24 hours.

      Thanks!
      David

      Hi David,

I’m sorry to say, but the surface exposed to air will remain tacky after curing. I talk more about it here:

I’m good with the tacky issue (and have bought the finishing spray) but the weird looking surface is from the bottom of the mold.

It may be that your resin got too hot and shrank during the process.
