I have a vintage 1970’s epoxy resin coffee table that my grandpa made. Over the years the resin has turned a yellow tint and has many cracks and parts where it is lifting. I would love to get the slices of stones out of the existing resin mold and create a new resin table. Is there anyway to get the stones out of resin? The stones are”slices” of various types all about 1/4 inch thick so feel like I will also risk breaking them. Any ideas on how to get the rocks out of the resin mold?
The only time I have removed resin was from metal using methylene chloride. I have not used it to remove resin from rocks and don’t know how well it would work. If you do want to try it, be sure you make yourself aware of all safety precautions. It can be VERY DANGEROUS to use.
