When painting with more expensive brands I tend to waste more paint than it is worth spending on high end products. If I was to start using paints such as ready mixed paint and other cheap paints would this set under a resin coat? would the resin seal the paint, so that it wouldn’t change over time?

Provided they are completely dry when you pour your resin coat, I would expect them to be fine.
