First, I’m not sure if this is the right forum. However, considering the topics these questions cover, it felt like the BEST place to ask.

Here’s the basic question: where do I go to ask people how and why epoxy resin does what it does? I want to take a deep, deep dive into the chemistry of resin: what it is, what it does to things in it, what works/doesn’t work with it, what the best way to get it off of doorknobs is, etc. And I want the chemical explanation – not just “use soap and water.” What is the soap doing, and why does it react with epoxy resin that way? Details, man!

Basically, I’m doing a self-guided organic chemistry paper that will hopefully be useful to a lot of artists after it is completed. I try to make my papers intelligible to the average person. It occurs to me that there might be quite a divide between the chemistry and art of resin, so why not balance the sides of the scale? Any help on this is appreciated! If this is the right place, prepare for 10+ questions – you have been warned.

      Thanks in advance!

      Hi Krahe,

This sounds like something you should speak to a PhD resin chemist about.
