      This question comes from Kim:

Searching for a resin to pour on top of the glass in a window frame. Adding shells and other items. What type is best? Will be hanging in a window. Also is it best to pour the resin and then place the shells?

      Hi Kim,

How deep were you hoping to pour the resin? Did you want a thin layer to simply act as a glue or did you want the items embedded in the resin? That will help me to best guide you on which resin to use for this project.

I would suggest gluing your shells in place, then pouring the resin. By doing it the other way, you may introduce bubbles into the resin.

Hi Katherine, this will be a free hanging frame to be hung in front of a window. So it will be inside and receiving light. The resin will be a thin layer to act as a glue over the entire window. Another question, I do have some molds and want to embed shells in them. Please suggest which resin to use for each project. Thank you for your time.

For your window project, a doming resin works best. Using the resin as a glue will be a relatively thin pour, so you need something with thicker surface tension. The Resin Obsession crystal doming resin works great. You can buy it in several sizes in our store here: https://shop.resinobsession.com/collections/resin/resin-obsession-crystal-doming-resin

As for molds, the Resin Obsession super clear resin will work better. It mixes in a thin viscosity, so if you are careful in mixing, bubbles are almost never a problem. You can find it in several kit sizes here: https://shop.resinobsession.com/collections/resin/resin-obsession
