I just finished a beautiful painting using acrylic paint, and paint pens. I just realized that some of the paint pens I used were Oil-Based! Can I still do a resin top coat, or will it not cure properly over those areas? Help!

      Hi Sandra,

I don’t have any specific experience with this, but I would tell you to expect that resin will not adhere over the oil-based pens. I suggest sealing the painting before applying a layer of resin.

Hey, I have this product called talc powder I think will do the trick. It can also work to get rid of silicone oil out of paintings so u can apply resin over the painting. You just pour a medium amount over the oil based paint and kinda rub it around until it gets tacky. The tackiness is the powder soaking up the oil, then u get a damp paper towel and remove the powder. After you remove the powder you are good to apply resin. There are directions on how to use talc powder by color pour. I found my talc powder at joann fabric.
