Hello everyone 🙂
I did search for this already and found 1 post but wasn’t too specific on this type of thing so thought id make a post that maybe someone could help with.
I only started playing with resin a short while ago making resin tumblers. I have tried probably 4 or 5 resins and all do the same for the most part. I have tried regular set and fast set (to try cure quicker before this happens).
The top lip is covered initially, as it cures it pulls back – from shrinkage as far as i can learn? The bottom edge also sometimes makes small fish eyes, likely from shrinkage too i imagine since its right on the edge and of course thinner there. The rest of the cup is great! I did start coating them in Mod Podge and it has improved it but not totally removed the problem. Even if i apply a lot more, I just get a small bump on either end where its thicker but still shrinks a bit leaving a little “hill” at the top and bottom. Should I be trying a spray sealant instead? Brushing on Mod Podge is a bit of mare if im honest anyway!
All the cups are sanded down to give some bite, painted with Rustoleum and left for a day to cure before applying Mod Podge and then finally resin.
Apologies if i’ve missed something and appreciate any advice to go on. IF it may be a resin problem, I am in the UK so anyone who can master these cup lips here that knows where to buy the resin they use that works, that would be fantastic so i can try it out.
Thanks
Steven
