I am trying to fill a large irregular shaped hole (1 ft +) in a table with clear casting resin. I want to cover the hole with a clear acrylic sheet one side and fill it from behind with resin. To hold the resin, I tried to create the seal between acrylic sheet and tabletop using silicone sealant, and also silicone sealant/ acrylic mix, but the casting resin reacts with them both (already cured), it just melts through. What could I use to create the seal? The resin is clear casting resin, 1 to 2 part mix.

It sounds like the resin isn’t reacting with the sealant so much as the resin is getting too hot and melting the sealant. I’m not sure there is anything that will withstand the heat from that large a casting. Instead, try cutting a piece of acrylic much larger than the hole, then using a hot glue gun to apply the acrylic sheet to the table at the edges. If the glue isn’t close to the heat of the resin, it should hold up through the casting.
