I am looking to cast a piece in a translucent finish and wonder whether anyone has any experience or advice on the best material to use or good techniques to apply. I estimate about 2 gallons volume. My experience is with rigid polyurethanes and like this material I assume a large exothermic reaction. Any insights are welcome. Thanks

You might be able to use a polyurethane for your project. I don’t have any experience using them for this large a project but expect they could work provided you can mix and pour that large a volume. You should be able to start with a clear polyurethane, add your desired transparent color, then add a smidge of white to get the translucent effect. We don’t sell clear polyurethanes, but instead recommend people buy them from alumilite.com. (They have a short shelf life, which is why we don’t carry them directly.) If you end up buying from them, please let them know we referred you. 🙂
