For those living outside major metro areas, how reliable is ride-sharing where you are? I’ve recently moved to a mid-sized town and noticed longer wait times, especially late at night. Is it worth keeping the apps, or should I just rent a car more often?

I live in a smaller town in Oregon, and honestly, ride-sharing is hit or miss. During the day, it’s okay, but after 9 p.m., it’s almost impossible to get a ride. I ended up getting a cheap used car just to avoid getting stranded after dinner or events.

I’ve used Lyft https://lyft.pissedconsumer.com/review.html in both big cities and small towns, and the experience really varies. In New York, it was seamless, I could get a ride in under three minutes, even late at night. But when I visited a friend in rural Colorado, it was a totally different story. I opened the Lyft app, and the nearest driver was 25 minutes away… and canceled. I ended up waiting over an hour to get to the grocery store.

I’ve recently moved to a mid-sized town too, and I’ve definitely noticed the longer wait times for ride-sharing, especially late at night. It’s not as reliable as it was when I lived in a bigger city. Sometimes I’ll wait 20+ minutes for a ride, and it can be pretty frustrating. I’ve been considering renting a car more often, especially for trips where I know I’ll need flexibility or if I’m out late. https://geometryarrow.io
