Choosing the right sparring gloves can feel overwhelming for a newbie. Heavier gloves seem safer, but sometimes they feel clunky during drills. Lighter ones improve speed but might hurt a bit more. Does anyone have tips on balancing protection and comfort? Wondering which gloves make learning technique easier without risking knuckle injuries.

When I started out, I found that mid-weight gloves strike the best balance. Early on, comfort and protection matter more than speed, and having well-fitted hand wraps helps a lot. Using sparring gloves around 14–16oz keeps your knuckles safe without feeling too bulky, so you can focus on technique and control while building confidence.
