GuestHi everyone! I’m thinking about changing careers. I like helping people but I don’t want to become a nurse. The population is getting older fast and there must be many new jobs in senior care. What are some unexpected or non-medical jobs in this field? Do they pay okay? Looking for real suggestions, thanks!

GuestThere are actually lots of cool jobs beyond nursing right now because so many seniors want to stay in their own homes. You can check this article for good examples: unexpected jobs in senior care and support. It talks about things like companion caregivers (helping with daily life and company), elderly fitness coaches, home modification specialists who make houses safer, and even tech helpers who teach seniors to use smartphones and smart devices. Many of these need little or no experience at the start, and some pay between $35k–$76k a year.

GuestI agree, these jobs sound much more interesting than traditional care roles. My mom uses a companion caregiver twice a week and it makes a huge difference in her mood. Also saw a fitness coach at the park helping seniors with balance exercises – looked fun and useful. Definitely more options than I thought!
