What exam do you need to take to confirm your language level and then apply for a visa or even residency? There are so many language exams now, and is it important to choose a specific one ?

I always thought that should be specified. Maybe it’s worth asking at the consulate what exact exam is required to confirm your language level. I highly doubt that the same alcpt military test would work for residency, even though it’s an academic English test that checks skills like reading, listening, grammar and vocabulary.
