      Can epoxy be poured over water or oil based poly? Also, can it be poured over shellac?

      Hi Duane,

      Pouring over an oil-based stain isn’t a good idea. The epoxy will tend to leach that oil, causing fish-eye and other blemishes. If you already placed the oil-based stain down, the best thing to do is wait until it is completely dry and cover it with a clear polyurethane. Then you can pour your epoxy over the top.
