oi mate someone just shoved this AOV Maintenance thing under me door this morning, proper thick leaflet going on about smoke vents in the roof and stairwells.
i only got halfway through cos the words were massive but it says we’re meant to have em checked every week and a proper bloke in once a year or it’s illegal.
ours haven’t been touched since i moved in 6 year ago, they just clonk open when the fire alarm test goes off and that’s it.
anyone know if the management actually do owt about AOV Maintenance or we just crossin fingers?? -
That leaflet’s spot on about AOV Maintenance – those smoke vents are meant to be tested weekly and serviced properly every year or the building’s technically non-compliant (fines + insurance nightmare if anything happens). Ours were knackered too till a couple of us kicked off. Worth reading the full article it explains exactly what the regs are and how to force the management company to sort it. Don’t just cross fingers, get on their case!
