Are some silicone molds not appropriate for epoxy resin? I’m trying to find a mold maker and a professional source told me that their silicone molds were not good with resin. This surprised me, because everything I’ve read said that silicone is the choice for resin. They said in particular, their silicone molds would not work well with epoxy resin. Can you help explain that?
I am not aware of silicone molding material that won’t work with epoxy resin. Some polyurethane molding materials may stick to epoxy. Alginate molds may cause a problem as they tend to retain moisture which can effect epoxy curing.
Would your mold maker be using either of those products?
