We have had this epoxy resin filled ‘radioactive’ container toy on the market for 3 years. Recently a change was made to the resin coloring process resulting in the use of more than one brand of alcohol based hobby store dyes to be mixed together. This change was made as we were having difficulty getting the ‘hot pink’ color using the original Tim Holtz ink
Unfortunately, we have 2 customers who have reported the color completely faded back to the original clear resin vs 60 who have purchased during this timeframe. We suspect this change as the cause of this issue as we have 500+ customers with no issues.
Does anyone have any ideas how to achieve a consistently hot pink clear resin. We are running experiments to recreate fading with a light exposure but want to work on finding a good, consistent ink.
Original ink is Tim Holtz Alcohol Ink in Wild Plum
Secondary ink is Brea Reese -

Hi Kristin,
Unfortunately, I’ve had this experience too when using pink and purple alcohol inks in resin. If they aren’t designed for resin, they won’t stay that color.
These are the ones I use: https://shop.resinobsession.com/products/alcohol-color-tints-for-resin

Katherine do you have recommendations for the tinting combination? Do you recommend a fast curing resin that will have that clear finished look to use with this tint?
I’m a bit fearful to change the dye with the current resin. I’d prefer having two known goods vs more experimentation since these products ship all over the world! -

I don’t have a specific formula to get the color you want, but this article might give you some ideas: https://resinobsession.com/resin-resin-resin/how-to-mix-colors/
I’ve used the ICE tints a lot with the super clear resin and been happy with how the colors stay true. The super clear resin cures in about 8 to 12 hours. You can buy it in several sizes in our store: https://shop.resinobsession.com/collections/resin/resin-obsession-super-clear-resin
