Adhering paper, rather than embedding?

Hi everyone,
I don’t have access to clear resin, but I’ve plenty of white polyurethane resin, and I was wondering if it was possible for me to somehow pour it onto a flat one piece mould with a piece of paper with a design at the very bottom, which would then be at the front of my casting??
I’m worried the resin might just seep underneath it!
