Hello! Resin newbie here. 🙂
I have been casting pieces with epoxy resin and I have read and experienced first hand that they never truly harden to an impenetrable finish. If I apply enough pressure I can still dent them with my fingernails and such.So I am looking for something that I can coat them in that would give the surface a little more hardness and durability, something with a clear gloss finish. Would something like a varnish work? Any kind of recommendation would be awesome. Thanks! -
Hi Heather,
What you’re describing is typical of some brands of epoxy resin. You will be able to dent and or scratch it if you try hard enough.
If you want a very hard casting, I would suggest either casting with the Resin Obsession super clear resin
