GuestI have purchased several molds intended for use with resin lately. I am having a great time with them, and I’m really enjoying working with resin. My question is this. Since I am also an avid polymer clay worker, can my resin molds also be used to mold and bake polyclay at 115-125 deg. C? (240-270 deg F) I’m having a very hard time finding a definitive answer.

GuestIf your resin molds are made from silicone, they can generally withstand the baking temperatures required for polymer clay (115-125°C or 240-270°F). Silicone molds are typically heat-resistant and safe for baking. https://slopeonline.online/

GuestBefore deciding whether your resin molds can be used to mold and bake polyclay or not, you should do a test with a small piece of polymer clay in the mold. Evaluate the mold for any signs of warping or damage. And check the mold manufacturer’s specifications. Many peple neglect this part but it is actually given specifically by the manufacturer.

GuestBake it at the lower end of your polyclay temperature range (say, 115°C / 240°F) for a short period and see if it shows any signs of damage or warping after it cools down. That way, you’re not risking your whole collection. https://spacewaves.io
