I recently learned that Arizona has a separate law against bullying in schools. My friend’s niece just encountered such a situation: classmates started teasing her about her appearance, and when she told the teachers about it, no one reacted. Eventually, the parents went to the principal and threatened to file a complaint based on the state anti-bullying law. Only then did they start doing something. I wonder if anyone knows how much such laws really help?

Hi. A lot depends on the school itself and how willing the administration is to enforce the law. Some teachers think that such incidents can simply be “resolved with a conversation” and do not want to intervene unless they are pushed into a corner. I have heard that the situation may be different in other states. For example, Arkansas, according to arkansas bullying statistics , also has anti-bullying laws, and they pay more attention to parents and teachers interacting together . I think it is different everywhere, but if a parent insists, laws can definitely help .

Indeed, a lot depends on the school and its administration. Some teachers may underestimate the seriousness of the situation, thinking that it is enough to just talk. It is good that some states, like Arkansas, have clearer laws and interaction with parents. This can significantly affect the approach to combating bullying. If parents insist on compliance with the law, this can bring real benefits. Each case is unique, and it is important to find an approach to each child.
