hi there. i read through your helpful tips on how to choose the right resin and of course i’m still not sure. ; ) I would like to try putting cardboard round vintage beer coasters in a round resin mold…they would take on the look of a paper weight, but i would like to use them as coasters. the molds i purchased from resinobsession aren’t the right size but i did find a metal large hamburger tray where they fit perfectly….can i use metal as a mold? thanks for your help i’m so clueless about this. the type of resin you would recommend? i have 85 of these cardboard coasters.

Since you are using the resin in a mold, you will need to use a casting resin. These resins are designed for use in molds. They mix in a thin viscosity, so bubbles are almost never a problem. As for the mold, using a metal mold for resin is going to be trickier. Part of the reason for using plastic and silicone for resin molds is that they are flexible and will release the resin. Not only is a metal mold not flexible, but resin likes to stick to metal. If you wanted to try, I would be absolutely sure to use a mold release.
