      This question comes from Noemi:

I am looking to open my own Etsy shop with my own designed shrinky dinks – animals. I want to make jewelry, keychans, … with them and sell those. Since they are most beautiful when sealed, I want to check now which kind of resin I should use.

I want it to be strong, durable but also easy to work with for making a big bulk of jewelry and pendants. So… professional but easy to use – preferably not too expensive.

Also – Since I will be working with shrink plastic, on which I will color with caran d’ache coloring pencils, I may need something to protect the colors from smearing maybe?

I like to get some tips in this since Im pretty new to it all 🙂

      Hi Noemi,

For a project like this, you will definitely need a doming resin. The Resin Obsession crystal doming resin works great for a project like this. Your keychains especially will need a durable coating.

I haven’t done this a lot with shrink plastic, but it has been my experience that once you bake them, the color is adhered on. I haven’t needed to seal or coat them with anything before using resin.

        Hi Katherine

Thanks for the quick and fast reply. I would prefer Ice Resin yes, as you don’t need to fire up your oven again and it can just dry by letting it sit.
I have seen and read about people who did resin on their shrink plastic and the colours ran… You can see someone in this video using mod pod first to preserve the colors:

Is this a good idea, and using ice resin afterwards?

Thanks in advance for the tips and advice!

Yes, sadly, we can’t ship ICE resin to you in Belgium.

Have you considered Judikins Fluxe? I used it for the purpose you want to achieve with resin. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nvFSevCIHro Unfortunately, we no longer carry the product, but I mention it because it can ship without any restrictions. Perhaps there is a retailer in Europe that has it?
