I poured resin over a painting with silicone and it caused these awful pits. Tried another coat but got same effect. What can I do to fix this? I LOVE this painting and I would hate to lose it. I considered spraying a clear sealant then repouring but I’m afraid I’ll ruin it. Any suggestions?
One of the great things about silicone is that (almost) nothing sticks to it. Unfortunately, a clear sealant isn’t going to work either. I would try wiping it clean with a baby wipe. You can then finish with a clear layer of resin. Assuming your divots aren’t deeper than 1/8″, they should level out and not be noticeable.
Let me know how it turns out!
