hi! ive been laminating butterfly wings then pouring resin on them to make into earrings. i use a silicone baking mat with spikes and cut the laminated pieces to have a small border then do my best to dome the laminated wing. i find when i drill in the top to make my hole, the paper and resin always separate and i’m left with two pieces – the laminated wing, and the doming clear resin. ive tried multiple types of resin but i just cant get it to stick! well it does stick but once i drill, it comes apart. any advice on this? i want to use the laminated paper because it preserves the colour on the wings the best, do you think the ICE paper sealer would also preserve the colour?

      Hi Alanna,

It sounds like something on the surface of your laminated wings is acting as a mold release. Try lightly sanding the surface with a 1000 grit sandpaper to see if that helps the resin stick better. You shouldn’t see any marks underneath the resin once you apply it.
