We’re setting up a new workshop and need to invest in proper diagnostic and tuning tools. The idea is to handle both standard service jobs and ECU-related work — reading, flashing, and troubleshooting. We mostly deal with European cars but occasionally get Asian models too. I’m not sure what’s better to start with: one universal system or several specialized ones? Would appreciate advice from those who’ve already equipped their shops.

Start with a reliable diagnostic platform like Autel or Launch — they cover almost everything and let you add modules later. Once you get stable flow, invest in a flasher like KESS3 or Flex for tuning. That’s what we did in our shop; both tools pay off fast.

We settled on a mixed setup — ordered Autel MaxiSys for diagnostics and KESS3 Slave for ECU work from https://ecutools.eu/ Both came with official licenses and quick activation. What I liked most is that their catalog clearly explains compatibility by car brand, so you don’t buy unnecessary modules. Delivery took less than a week, and everything worked right out of the box.
