      HEllo all!

First off thank you for any insight you can share. much appreciated.

I have some masks I made from mostly paper mache, there is foam and fabrics and all sorts of found objects too but it is probably 70% paper.

They’re a few years old and weevils have started to eat them!! I have tried to brush resin on but the pieces are deep ridge like textures. Would dipping be a better option? they are relatively large pieces. Would I need to hang them as I applied the resin.

Ya’ll I have a million questions! lol here is an Instagram link to one of the masks, the other pieces around it are the other masks id like to resin up!

      Hi Matthew,

I had no idea weevils would eat paper mache masks. That’s crazy!

Yes, you can dip the masks in the resin to seal them, but it’s like dipping them in honey. You will need to find a way to collect the dripping resin and will need to rotate them for the first few hours so the resin doesn’t pool in one spot. It could get messy.

If you don’t want a thick coating on your masks, our resin gloss sealer spray would work for what you want to do. It is an aerosol spray that produces a shiny finish. I expect it would seal your masks enough to keep the weevils out. You can buy it in our store here: https://shop.resinobsession.com/products/castin-craft-gloss-resin-sealer-spray

      Does this help?
