      Hello,
I have a paddle fish rostrum that I would like to encase in epoxy to preserve it. It has been beetled and dried. What would be the best way to go about doing this? Should I use a sealer on the bone material first? What would be the best epoxy kit to use for a this project? The area that will need to be filled is roughly 12″ long by 4″ wide by 3″ deep. Any information or experience is greatly appreciated.
      Thanks,
      Jack

      Hi Jack,

I haven’t done anything specifically using bones in resin. As for sealing, ask yourself if getting the bone wet would change its appearance. If the answer is yes, then you need to seal it. This sealer spray is what I would use: https://shop.resinobsession.com/products/castin-craft-gloss-resin-sealer-spray

As for the resin, the Resin Obsession deep pour resin will work great. You can mix anywhere from 3 ounces to 3 gallons at once, plus pour it up to two inches thick at once. You can buy it in several sizes in our store here: https://shop.resinobsession.com/collections/resin/resin-obsession-deep-pour-resin

According to our resin calculator, you need 80 ounces of resin for this project. https://www.resinobsession.com/resin-calculator/
