I am brand-spankin new to resin jewellery making (any jewellery making, actually), but I would like to get started in making pendants in metal settings. Do you use a mold for this, or does the setting itself act as a mold? I would love recommendations for what to buy to get started.

Yes! Resin works very well when used directly within the metal settings. Start with an epoxy resin. It is generally the easiest to use. Plan on a few practice pieces first until you get a feel for how much resin to use in the bezels to get your desired look.
